| Tourmaline
is one gemstone that is mined significantly in the U.S.,
with large deposits in Utah, Maine and California. In
fact, it was the first stone mined in the United States,
excluding the activities of prehistoric and native cultures.
In addition to U.S.sources, tourmaline is mined all over
the world and can be found in any color imaginable. Some
popular varieties available from JFG include pink tourmaline,
green tourmaline, parti-colored tourmaline and chrome
tourmaline. Because of tourmaline’s mixed crystal
structure, no two stones are just alike, and many stones
display more than one color at once. The stone is easy
